Boðbjánar

Decommissioned Icelandic multiplayer art auction game

Screenshot of Boðbjánar

A Jackbox-style multiplayer party game built with Node.js and Socket.io. One player hosted on a laptop or TV while others joined from their phones using a 4-letter room code.

Players receive random drawing prompts, create artwork on a touch-enabled canvas, then bid on each other's creations in a real-time auction. Non-artists see hints like "A cat riding a skateboard is worth $3500" and have to guess whether the artwork matches. Winner is determined by net worth — remaining cash plus portfolio value.

Its server-authoritative architecture used clients as dumb terminals, with anti-snipe bid timers, countdown announcements with sound effects, input sanitization, and rate limiting.

The project was decommissioned on 1 September 2026. The source repository and this project record remain available for reference.
